SEMA 2007 - Show Coverage - Day 1

2007 SEMA ShowOur man on the scene, Alan Chung, has sent us some photos from SEMA 2007. As usual, there are lots of cool concept vehicles and new products ready to pry your credit card from your wallet. Diesels are figuring even more prominently in the show trucks this year and support for the JK Wrangler continues to swell with a huge array of accessories and upgrades on display. Toyota stunned a lot of visitors with its awesome Tundra Dually concept vehicle powered by a Hino 8.0L 6-cyl diesel. And yeah, there were SEMA car girls in abundance, too.

DAY 2  DAY 3  DAY 4

2007 FJ Cruiser Convertible concept.

2008 Tundra Dually Project Vehicle. This is a Crewmax cab joined with a 6.5 foot bed and 22.5 inch custom alloys by Alcoa. This truck drew a LOT of attention at the show and for very good reason.

The Tundra is powered by an 8.0L Medium Duty Hino Turbo Diesel with 5 speed Eaton manual trans. Hino medium duty rear axle with Meritor axles. 22.5 inch Alcoa alloy wheels.

That Hino axle looks like a mini-Rockwell.

2008 FJ Cruiser Trail Team Special Edition. 3200 of these will be produced at the beginning of the year for four months. It comes with a white body and roof with black out trim pieces and wheels. Additional specs include Bilstein Shocks, BFG A/Ts, TRD alloy wheels, Cyclone Air Cleaner, Rear diff lock with A-trac, TRD exhaust system, Toyota Rock Rails, all weather mats, F&R skid plates and bumper auxiliary mounted lights.

Toyota off road race legend Ivan Stewart.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater edition Wrangler Unlimited.

2007 Wrangler JT pick up truck concept. This Concept Jeep vehicle sits on a 116 inch wheelbase with a 5 foot bed. Its has a Warn 9500ti winch in front with a Mopar front and rear bumper.

It rides on 35 inch BFG MTs. For performance, it has Rubicon Express 4 inch lift and cold air intake. Rock Rails are also included. The paint is great...Hearing Air beige paint.

I know this is a 4x4 site but I couldn't resist snapping these shots. Dodge Challenger.

Camaro.

Didn't I see this in the Transformers movie?

4.5L V8 Duramax Diesel light duty V8 in a Chevy Suburban HD Z71 Diesel. This engine is rated at 310hp and 52lb-ft of torque. It should be available in the next year or so in light duty GM trucks.

425hp 6.1L Hemi in a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. (Lots of these at the show!)

Milemarker was showcasing their M.O.S.F.E.T. MiFi winch control technology which replaces the old electro-mechanical solenoid controls packs with solid-state electronic control units. These can be retro-fitted to any Milemarker winch.

Warrior Products featured a lot of new products for the Jeep Wrangler JK. Roof racks, seats, tube doors, bumper and rocker armour, etc.

Close-up of the tube doors.

Hi-Lift jacks new "Handle-All" product. It combines easily attachable implements such as a sledge hammer end, axe, shovel, and hoe; using a lynch pin. I wonder if this is the same product that Max-Axe used to sell?

ARB's new for 2008 Front Bull bar for 07-up JK Jeep Wranglers. The deluxe version is shown with openings for foglamps and turn/parking lamps, and is air bag compatible with crush zones. There is also a Rock Bar bumper available for off-road use only, which is similar, but lacks the above mentioned features of the deluxe version. They are on the ship from Australia and on their way to North America right now!

ARB's new for 2008 rock sliders for 07-up JK Jeep Wranglers. They are manufactured from .1 inch steel for maximum protection.

ARB's new for 2008 Rear bumper for 07-up JK Jeep Wranglers.

ARB's High Tensile Solid Nodular Iron diff cover. Note the magnet on the lower differential plug.

Warn showed off their new line of air compressors. Choose from the small portable SPC model with up to 1.0 cfm of air at 90 PSI to the V-Twin powered VTC which has up to 8 CFM air up to 90 PSI. The VTC comes with a carrying cage and has a intercooled reservoir that holds one gallon of air.

V-twin compressor power.

One of Warn's Power Plant Dual Force winches. It combines the pulling power of a winch and an air compressor in one convenient package.

Bestop's new "Highrock 4x4" line of products for '07 and up Jeep JK Wranglers. They include a myriad of full bolt on products such as the Highrock 4x4 slider step which is a two position side steps that is a step in the lower position and a nerf bar in the upper position. Novel front and rear bumpers have available hi-lift jack storage boxes and approach and departure rollers.

I wonder if Bestop's engineers were influenced by the WWII White Motor Company half-tracks that had a similar feature on their front bumpers?

Bestop's new Highrock 4x4 element doors. They are made of 1.25 inch construction and come with convienent HD storage packets. They are available in front and rear door pairs. They have a built in step pad, which can hold up to 250 lbs when the door is closed.

There is also a optional enclosure kit which covers the outside of the door and can be painted to match the vehicles color. There is no drilling for installation of the door and factory mirrors.

Bestop's new Duster deck cover and Wind Jammer for 4 door JK Jeep Wrangler Unlimiteds. Works similar to their 2 door version, but covers the large back half of the 4 door Wrangler Unlimited.

Pro Comp Suspension 6 inch Jeep Wrangler Long arm system. Their newest system for Jeep Wranglers, is still in the product testing stages, but look for it soon!

Pro Comp's 6 inch suspension system for Toyota Tundras. One-piece drop down cross members and high strength extended steering knuckles increase suspension performance levels while still preserving factory suspension and steering geometry. 35x12.5 inch tires can now be fitted to the vehicle.

This Pinzgauer was at the show again, but now with an exo cage.
