S&N Fab's King Of The Hammers Build-Up

February 11, 2009: With just over 2 weeks left before they have to be at the starting line of the 2009 King of the Hammers race, all hands have been on deck at S&N Fab to get the new race car ready. King of the Hammers is a multi-discipline event that requires a car to be a desert racer and rock crawler all in one. With this in mind S&N Fab have been working feverishly to transform their design philosophy into a fully-functioning vehicle. The starting point is an existing S&N "Bravo" chassis that they are re-working with new cage sections, suspension design, and room for a bigger motor. Here are some hastily taken photos from the build-up.

Race car specs have been finalized and are as follows:

  • Type: 2009 S&N Bravo Elite TJ
  • Wheel base: 105"
  • Over all height: 5'-9"
  • Track width: 76"
  • Belly: 19"
  • Front suspension: inverted 4 link 7.5" up travel at ride height
  • Rear suspension: inverted 4 link 9" up travel at ride height
  • Front shocks: Bilstein 9100 remote res 14" X 2.65 shortbody with 3" bilstein airbumps.
  • Rear shocks: Bilstein 9100 remote res 17" X 2 coil carrier W/ 17" X 2.65 9100 quad Bypass remote Res
  • Motor: Chevy Vortec 5.7
  • Transmission: "shift works" Turbo 400 full manual Valvebody
  • Transfer case: Atlas II 4.3
  • Front Axle: Dynatrac Prorock 60, Superior 4.88 gears, Detroit locker, Superior shafts, Longfield Joints and drive slugs
  • Rear Axle: Dynatrac Prorock 60, Superior 4.88 gears, Detroit locker, Superior shafts
  • Radiator: Ron Davis
  • Exhaust: 2.5 flowmaster exhaust by Randys custom exhaust.
