Christmas Toy Run

This year's Christmas Toy Run was blessed with sunny skies (and freezing cold temperatures). About 90-100 trucks showed up for the event which began with a gathering at Guilford Towne Centre, in Surrey. Prizes for best-decorated trucks were awarded before the procession down to the Bear Creek Park Community Centre began. The event was organized by the Sasquatch Four Wheelers club who have been doing this for many years, now.

Winners for Best-Decorated Trucks
First Adam Selnes
Second JayChristien
Third Al Watson
Fourth Dave Jock
Fifth Judy Shannon
Sixth David Francoeur

Once at the Community Centre, the participants unloaded their toys, food, and cash donations, before enjoying a pancake breakfast put on by the North Surrey Lions Club. The dining area was expanded during the past year which made it much less crowded and easier to find a seat this year.

The Surrey Christmas Bureau took in a total of 430 toys, 404 food items, $280 in cash, and $500 in gift certificates. The Lions Club also donated money from the pancake breakfast. They collected $800 from the pancake breakfast and after deducting their costs, they were able to donate $646.49 to the Surrey Christmas Bureau. Thanks very much to the Sasquatch Four Wheelers, the Christmas Bureau, and the North Surrey Lions Club for making it a better Christmas for those of us who are less fortunate. And thanks to the local businesses that donated cash and products for the awards.
