Conclusion

The switch to Detroit Lockers has been an overwhelming success. Not only were we able to improve the reliability of Project YJ's differentials, we also improved its highway manners. Since it's stated goal is to be a capable dual-purpose vehicle, this is a notable achievement.

Having been through the rookie's route of making incremental changes and then spending more money to remove the old additions and upgrade to stronger parts, I can tell you that it is not cost effective. You end up spending more money over the long run. If you want lockers and you're going to do the hard trails, buy yourself a pair of Detroit Lockers. Besides providing fantastic off-road performance, they'll also add to the reliability of your 4x4's differentials.
