It's been a while since we first looked at the Photon Micro-Light II and in the intervening years, Photonlight.com has improved the product. They now have the Photon Freedom Micro, a light that is the same size as the original but packed with more features.

The Photon Micro Freedom with the quick release hook.

The multi-purpose clip.

For starters, the Freedom Micro now uses a single push-button design that makes it more water resistant that the original. By means of a smart circuit, that single button can turn the light off and on, adjust the brightness level, and switch to any of the four safety beacon modes (slow, medium, fast, and S-O-S). The second notable difference is that the case can now be opened without the use of a jeweller's screwdriver, making battery changes a snap. But my favourite improvement over the original Micro-Lights is that the Freedom Micro comes with a high quality quick release hook and a multi-purpose clip. The quick release hook makes it even easier to transfer your Photon LED light to your key ring, zipper, belt loop, etc. so that you always have it with you. And having it with you at all times is what makes this light so useful. The multi-purpose clip allows you to attach the light to your collar, lapel, or hat brim for hands-free operation.

But above and beyond the additional features, the Freedom Micro still meets the high standard set by the Photon Micro-Light II. It continues to be the brightest and smallest LED light I have ever seen.
