2000 Montrose Colorado Die Trying Trail

Terry's wife does a little tail stand after she gets a little off in her line. But luckily they had added a section to the rear rollbar and it just stood up and sat there. The contents in the back of the little sami dumped and their were some fresh scratches in the paint but that was the extent of the damage. Some quick work with the winch and she was quickly back on all fours and up and over the obstacle.

Tim Nevadomski stretches the legs on his CJ-7 a little at the start of the trail. Tim's Jeep is painfully simple but works remarkable well. Tim started with a clean CJ-7. Swapped in a T-18 with granny low, scout axles, and went spring over with the suspension. He also has some neat goodies like on board air. All running on top of some 36x12.5 Super Swamper Sx's.

Die Trying had many nasty sections such as this one. It seemed like anyplace there was a slight change in elevation the rocks just piled up. So you would have a little climb along with lots of lose rocks. Did I mention that many of these rocks were huge!

Terry, or trailguide for the day, drives around one of the many changes of direction in the canyon bottom that provide some interesting obstacles. Often you would find yourself having to do a 90 degree turn up a rock face then once on top having to turn back 130 degree the other direction all with just enough space for your Jeep to fit.

Climbing one of the many ledges. The challenges on this trail were nonstop from the time you entered the trail until you crested the top of the ridge after the long climb out. This trail is an absoloute blast and challenges you the whole way.

You get an idea of how large some of the ledges are in this shot and just how tight the trail can be. In many places the action was so intense that one had to just stand in the middle and you could see 2 trucks working there way in the rocks in front of you and then just turn around and you could see the other trucks working up behind you. This trail was not one that had rest periods in between obstacles it was an obstacle.

Climbing one of the ledges early in the trail. This trail starts hard and ends even harder.

Just taking a little lunch break. Parked to achieve maximum flex. But this wasn't an off the trail park job. It's just stopping in the middle of the trail and saying its time for lunch.

Just some more action shots from the trail. The rock crawling on this trail is just phenominal. You won't be dissappointed if you run this trail. Just be sure you come prepared. This trail is not the trail to find out your truck ain't ready for this kind of challange.

Tim starting the long climb out. If your truck dies in this trail it stays behind until it's fixed. It is just impossible to get a rig out off this trail with out it having its own power. The Toyota that was with us suffered a computer failure and had to be left behind. It took them two days to get the correct part flown in to Montrose and get it installed and get the truck back on the top.
