Ok, here's our promise: this will be the last snow wheeling report until next winter. We realize it's June now and most of you (except for our friends in Chile) have long ago left the snow wheeling mindset. But as we mentioned in our other trip reports, we had an unusually late snow season this year, so we enjoy it while we can, even though it showed up remarkably late. What made this trip so notable for us was the first appearance of our friend, Tom's, rock buggy. He hadn't brought it out snow wheeling before and we were all interested to see how well it would work. Of course, none of us were surprised to see that it worked very well indeed. 
The previous week had seen a lot of rain and cold temperatures in the city which turned into lots of fresh spring snow on the mountains. The day we chose to have this snow wheeling adventure was a beautiful warm and sunny spring day. For optimum conditions we could have used slightly less sun because it was really softening up the fresh snow and making forward progress difficult, but that's half the fun of snow wheeling, right? This was just another great snow wheeling adventure, awesome fresh snow that every once in a while totally buried the rig, requiring fun extractions. The upper sections of the trail had very deep snow and to make things even more challenging, very nasty tree wells. Any true snow wheeler loves the challenges offered by tree wells. I managed to fall off the road into a really off camber position. Luckily the snow was deep and held my rig up. Turning around at the end of the trail was a major effort that required a lot of winching with snatch blocks. In other words just another average, awesome snow wheeling day. And that's all I have to say about that. Nothing momentous happened, just lots of fun playing in the snow. 
Now we can all move on to summer 'wheeling. You know, with the heat, the dust, the bugs, the sweat, the sticky film of bug spray all over your neck and arms. Oh yeah, what fun. That's why, in the back of my head, I'll be dreaming about the snow wheeling near the end of this year.
