I need someone with a 1979 - 1983 Toyota Shortbox pickup to measure the inside and outside length of their box.

I have a feeling it's a couple inches shorter than the 84 and up, but I don't have one to measure.

Thanks,

Ryan

I am pretty sure the inside length is 6 feet (72"),

According to my notes from when I was starting my flatdeck (don't think I am this organized for any other aspect of my life)

original box length--just under 75"

approx. width 64" outside, inside 62.5" (can't remember if this was at the bottom or top, i have a feeling it was from the bottom)

space between wheel wells --- 40 3/4"
distance from rear of cab to end of frame---66 1/8"

That is all I have written down and it may not be entirely accurate...

Why do you want to know Ryan? For a canopy or because you want to put an 84+ bed on your early Toy? I know the 84-88 short boxes bolt right on to the 79-83 short box frames.

Because I had a canopy that originally came off of an 85 Xtracab. My friend put it on his 83 shortbox, and trimmed the angle off the front to fit the back of his cab. He may also have shortened the canopy a bit. He doesn't remember. When I went to put it on my new 84 reg. cab short box, it was 2" too short.

But, as it turns out, it fits a Bruzer box perfectly... :D
