My ranger grinds sometimes when putting it into gear, also can feel drag when popping it out of gear at a stop. Does not slip at all. I'm not sure if it's clutch or slave, but was wondering which was easier-remove engine or trans and transfer case? (249,000 km on original clutch)

Thanks, Bob.

FIRST LOOK TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY BRAKE FLUID AROUND THE BOTTOM OF YOUR TRANNY WHERE IT MOUNTS TO THE ENGINE. IF THERE IS YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO PULL THE TRANNY/T-CASE ANYWAYS TO GET AT THE SLAVE SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL DO THE CLUTCH TOO.

Thanks LT. No fluid leaking, bled it already. Doesn't get better pumping it up. I'll put in new everything when I get it apart. You would remove trans/transfer case rather than engine?

Bob.
