i was wondering how is your diesel on gas i may be looking at a big f 350 diesel like a late 80s early 90s with 35s do you think it would cost less to run than a 81 bronco 2bbl with 35s it uses alot of gas

I get about 19 miles to the gallon with 4.10 gears and a 5 speed OD trany. Diesel fuel is 53.9 cents and gas is 50.9 here in calgary and area... I would go with diesel just because you will get any where from 200,000- 400,000Km +++ out of the engine. Unless you are heavy on the either... (not a good idea) a rebuilt block and pistons are about $1500 cdn (7.3L International 89') You have to remember that to contain 18 to 1 compression it tales a lot of iron i don't know the weight but some people say its about the weight of two small block eng so it may be nesicary to beef up the front suspension. ONE BIG FORD runs with 39" tires with the 7.3 L diesel. He is a good person to talk to about diesel power and 4x4ing i am just a rookie... =P Nah i am fairly knowledgable about these things...
I would say "Go for it" diesel engine's are the way to go... Nuf said

I am going to pick it up this weekend. I wont know for sure how good the rims are... The truck was t-boned it had a large tool chest in place of the box. And i cant remember if the rims where in good shape i will post when i know. I have a friend selling 38" swampers on 16"x 10" rims 8 bolt patern... off or a ford he said that they where aluminum rims(not sure if they are ford factory or not...)

IIRC the Powerstroke diesel is made by International (they should be the same engine just a newer version)
