thanks coldsteel but i already have a 'complete' rebuild for the axle. just need backing plates for the felts and dust shields or backing plate eliminators.

btw its a 85 front axle.

for backing plate eliminators, can't you just use some washers? with no backing plates, you won't get rocks suck in there...

I just baught backing plates for the felts from BCC. $20 for the pair and they are the thicker ones....

the backing plates aren't mounted to any sealing surface, they're right under the washers from the bolts that hold the spindle on. washers will be fine.
