Count me in for one. I'll come to PG for a sticker, but do I really have to join the lowermainlandfourwheeldriveassociationofBritishColumbia?(4WDABC) They don't exist up here, eagle ridge means nothing to us and there is no such thing as land closures (no offense). Where has Wes Remple been since his blowup around christmas? Stir, Stir, Stir????
However, It is cool to know when you are passing/dealing with fellow 'listers, I would lend my limited shop and tools (and extra bedroom) to any needy lister if you were stuck up here or near WL. But I don't think I would join the 4WDBC just to get the sticker, I can see your point though Lars......

Cool website, and I would like to fly the flag but the 4WDABC is not something I would join. Too lowermainlandcentric.

No, you don't. You just have to be a member of the 4WDABC (it's province-wide). In fact, the pres. of the association is Mike Allan who is up in Prince George. They did some excellent work in keeping 4x4 access open to Yank's Peak last year, if I heard correctly.

Not sure what you're getting at with that remark. Wes has been active in land use issues, the most recent one being the recent possible destruction of some 4x4 trails on Green Mtn (which is up near the Mt Currie area), and not down here in the lower mainland.

Stihl, this is not directed specifically at you, it is just a general rant.

Does the 4WDABC have to take out full page adds in every local paper every time its members go wheeling or work with gov't to keep areas open?

The 4WDABC has members from Vancouver Island to Prince George (and Vanderhoof). The LML has the vast majority of the province's population, so of course that is where the vast majority of its members would be.
Mike Allan and the North Caribou Offroad Adventurers are members of the 4WDABC, they are located in PG and have been working hard to keep places open like YANKS PEAK (it is threatened with closure due to ATVs running the meadows).
The Okanagan Explorers out of Vernon are also members and are working to keep access open in their area.

Sure I blew my engine up in May. Big deal. Do I have to post ever time I go wheeling? The 4WDABC (and for any group for that matter) does not live or die by one person.
Since I blew up I have been to the Chilcotin 3 times, Lillooet area twice, Vernon once...

Lots of people like to bitch about the 4WDABC. If they would only spend half that amount of energy helping us rather than bitching about/at us, we would be in alot better shape and be doing that much more to keep access open. Like any volunteer organization, we need volunteers, we can never have enough.
Remember, every time you bitch out one of the 4WDABC volunteers for not doing enough, you are bitching out a person who is volunteering their limited time and energy to keep YOUR access open.

And my last name is spelled REMPEL

I edited my above post to clarify.

Humor and sarcasm are hard to convey with only the written word.

I applaude volunteers of all sorts, including the staff of the 4WDABC.

Interesting, I guess I'll have to go back to the website and take a closer look. I met Mike once last year, good guy.

Sure I blew my engine up in May. Big deal. Do I have to post ever time I go wheeling?
Wes, you missed the point entirely. However, you illustrated my point perfectly. I was not talking about your engine. I was talking about the post on here around christmas.

My exposure to the members of the 4WDABC is mainly through this website and they seem to disagree/fight/bitch with each other and non-members. Granted, I have never been to a meeting and it may well be more constructive than it seems. I can only comment or make assumptions based on my experience here.

To put it simply, I would like to have a 4X4.com sticker so I can be recognized/recognize other listers to bullshit, help out, wave, etc....but I respect the right of 4X4.com to limit the distribution of the stickers as they see fit. So if that means joining the 4WDABC to get as sticker (I'll have to go back and check out their web site again but I thought to be a member of the 4WDABC all you had to was fill out a form and mail in your $30) then I guess each person has a choice to make. Lars et. al. have made it really simple. It is not my intention to start another debate on the merits of the association, my personal choice (at this time) is not to join. So I won't get a sticker.

I'll be the guy without the sticker on his truck but with the TB Vets key chain tag.

Wes, sorry about the misspelling of your last name. (Sarcasm intended)
