A little off topic....

But, are beadlocks legal on the street here? I checked Skidmark's page about regulations, but I am still not clear. Plus I don't think I've ever seen anyone with them in town. I know some of the manufacturers state "only for off-road use, blah, blah, blah", but what is the general rule here (ie. B.C./Canada)??

A friend of ours from Washington state is building them.

He's about an hour drive from the border. Here are the beadlocks he builds

I'll get you contact info if you want.

I've seen those and really like them. H8Monday has them. Get me more contact info ASAP, also how would I get them across the border without declaring them?

No, I'm flying in for work
Sucks.

Oh yeah, for those who haven't seen the latest story, here are some pictures and a link:

kind of explains why I need the beadlocks - lost air in a swamper each of the last 2 times I went out. Got flush valve stems on the way, now I'm SERIOUSLY looking for bead locks.

Yup, Bill's not afraid to do stuff to it. It's really quite something:

highlights:

Hybrid 44/30 axle - XJ D30 with Cj knuckles, d44 outers.

SOA leaves in the front. High clearance steering.

home made revolvers in back.

4.8 (? or whatever size it is when you make the stroker moter) stroker 4.0

All kinds of home made little doo dads and improvements.

.... and he kicked my ass that day! Sometimes it's the other way around, but that day I was doing all the limping.

Just declare them, the duty if there is any is not going to amount to very much because they are made in America. You're just going to have to pay the GST. Not worth losing them for that imho.

No need to shout. I am not aware of any beadlocks that are street legal in Canada or US because they are not DOT approved.
With their growing popularity, it is only a matter of time before a manufacturer jumps though the DOT hoops and gets them approved.

But that is just what I know. No DOT, not legal.

Every bead lock I've seen is always marked not for highway use.

Is there any reason for them not to be street legal beside just not being DOT approved?

ie. not safe enough, or something like that.
