Well I am still recovering from the flue and haven't been able to work on the truck so I figured I would start the build/fix up thread for the blue basterd... Unfortunatly I don't have pics of the first round of work.. Round 1 included installing a lock up th350 transmission I rebuilt... replaced all the fluids.. fixed the front rad fan mounting... built a new batter box for the passenger side battery... replaced all the main battery wires...
Took the truck out for some fun and ended up breaking the front suspension.. Round 2 began.. I managed to get my hands on a stock steering arm plus a drop drag link.. The original owner had only flipped the ball joint on the stock steering arm when they lifted the truck... I suspect when I was at full drop there was way to much angle on the drag link.. With the new steering arm I flipped the ball joint and installed the new drop drag link.. The angles look better now, all though in the future the truck really needs a high steer kit installed..
The carnage that left the truck stuck up at the entrance of sunrise lake..
Took the truck out on another shake down run.. The truck worked pretty good it made it home this time on its own power.. I did have one problem though the truck didn't seem to be charging up the batteries... I decided it was time for round 3.. Rewiring the truck from head lights to tail lights..
Day 1 started out looking like this.. I figured out part of the charging problem was a bad connection in the wiring to the alternator.. That didn't surprise me, the wiring is a mess in this truck..
quitting time as the rain started, so this is where I left it..
thankfully we had some nice weather and I was feeling good enough after work to put in some time on the truck...here is where I last left it
all the wiring I was stripped out of the truck so far... it was scary I found in some sections of wire 3 or 4 crimp connections used in order to make 1 wire long enough...
