Are grade 5 bolts good enough for shackles or should i use grade 8?Where is the best place to get Grade 8 bolts?

I'd use grade 8, and Lordco's got 'em.

Dont even consider anything lower, cause I mean.. why risk it for $1 per bolt?

I got mine at lordco in mission... and they just GAVE them to me! Well, I was buying a ton of stuff, but still they must be cheap then.

Shackle bolts? As in the ones that hold your spring to the shackle etc?

Grade 8 would be overkill unless you've drilled and tapped them for a grease nipple.

You guys telling him to use Grade 8 bolts have obviously never looked at an aftermarket shackle. They all use Grade 5. Has anyone actually broken a Grade 5 shackle bolt?

Nothing wrong with overkill but I don't loose any sleep 'cause I've used Grade 5 bolts for my shackles. They've held up fine to 36's, lockers, a few 4+/5 rated trails and a couple of roll overs.
