Looks like I'll be picking up a D44 from a XJ to throw into my XJ next week.
I currently have a 8.25.
Does anyone know if the depth of the diffs are very different? I would like to use my stock drive shaft.
I don't have the cash to put in a SYE and change the drive shaft yet which are the next plans.

If they are, not enough to care about. I just did this swap two weekends ago. Didn't change driveshaft, used the same type (but new) u-bolts.

IIRC they are exactly the same...and would use the same driveshaft.

I'm jealous!
Any limited slip or locker in this 44?
Any plans for disk brakes???

It has ltd slip but that will be scrapped for a locker late in the year. As for rear disc, that is for sure. I hate cleaning mud out of drums. Will have to wait until next year due to cash restrictions. (wife to answer to)
You seem to know quite about stuffs, any info you could provide on rear disc mod????
