If I was at home then I would just count, but I am not so if somebody could give me a number it would be great. Does any one know what the input spline count is on a Ford Dana 20 Tcase...I think the output on the 78 NP435 is 31 spline...?

Thanks,

Matt

I'm 99% sure about these numbers:

Ford D20 input gear: 8 splines
Ford D20 input coupler: 28 splines
Ford NP435 4wd output shaft: 31 splines
Ford NP435 2wd output shaft: 28 splines

That's why you're supposed to run the 2wd NP435 with the EB D20 - you can run the factory shafts, so all you need is an adapter.

also be careful when buying your tranny. i picked up my np435 from some guy in the buy and sell for 100 bucks. he told me he pulled it out of a late 70s ford 3/4 ton 2wd. i didn't really feel like taking the yoke off to check the splines as i thought if it is 2wd it is 28 spline. well i was wrong the damn thing was 32 spline. a simple trip to berts got me a used output shaft for 40 bucks.

I already got a 435 in my 78 bronco but I want to double a D20 t-case in front of my 205, but at least that gives me the option to change my output shaft to 28 spline!

Thanks guys,

Matt
