Hey guys, I have a question/thought. I just found out today, i actually have a 302, not the 351w the previous owner told me it had sob.... I mean hey its still a strong engine, pulls well, no real gripes. But of course in the spirit of Tim Taylor, i want more power :) I don't plan on doing this immediately, i want to wait until it really needs it, and am looking at my options.

1. Wait til engine gets tired and rebuild adding in headers, better intake heads etc.
2. Wait til engine gets tired, and stroke it.
3. Get a tired 351w, and start rebuilding it myself.

All involve me doing as much of the work as possible, taking to machine shops where required etc. I guess the question becomes, what are everyone's thoughts on the 302 v 351w, and also is it worth stroking it, or am i sacrificing too much reliability?

Cheers.

i guess it depends on what you have into the 302 but if it were me i would start with a 351, more cubes, stronger block, same money.
i wouldn't bother with a stoker 302, lots of people do and have good luck but why not start with more cubes without a bunch of expensive exotic parts?
