i want new exhaust for my 81 chev 3/4 ton 4x4. It now has just the single whatever stock diameter chevy used that year with a plain old muffler, not very exciting. I want something with a lot more flow and louder. I dunno prob duel but not sure what diameter of pipes i should get and what for mufflers. I just want a little more power and noise out of her but not loud enough that i would get pulled over

I am probably put a k&n air filter on or something to get some extra air flow. Any thoughs on that. Replies from your personal experience would be best. (350 stock manifolds) thnx

I'd go with 2 1/2" pipes. You dont want to go too big because you may loose power.

i have an 79 chev and run dual 2 1/4" pipes with red devil exhaust, i noticed more power when running through mud and on freeway and it only cost me about 350$ installed

i had dual exhaust with bottles on my 75 jimmy and changed it to a single 3" with a flowmaster 3 chamber center in center out and it had more bottom end which i like to have for 4x4ing,and it sounded great plus if you go with the single 3" it is half the price and works better imo.

For $50 I got a Canadian Tire cherry bomb, some adapters, and a tail pipe deal, and welded it up at school so it dumps infront of the back left wheel. Single pipe, and its friggin loud. I got pulled over the first night I had it on. And with my timing advanced, it shoots flames when you rev it. When you stomp it, it sounds closer to being strait piped.

I'm probably gunna make myself the same thing for the right side, so I'll have dual pipes. It'll be a little quieter, cause each cherry bomb will only have to do half as much. But it'll sound mean as hell, as if it already doesn't. Course if you don't dig noise violation tickets, and almost deafening interior noise at times, then spend the cash and get a decent system in.

tynx for the replies keep firing away though cause itll be atleast another 3 weeks before i get it done. And no i dont really want anything will get me pulled over instantly but something that sounds good. And for the stereo i have a 1200 dollar stereo.
