I have heard about gate keys to open the yellow gates. Where or how do you go about getting a key? Is it forestry, municipality? Is it worth getting one? Is it universal? Any info would be appreciated

AFAIK you get them with a deposit left at your local forestry district office or tourism office...something like that, but only if it is crown land.

Yup, I deleted the messages detailing how to open up locked gates. And before anyone starts screaming about freedom of speech, let me remind you that this is NOT a democracy. It's a web board and I'm not going to allow it to be used to teach people how to make things worse for the fourwheeling community.

Posting that kind of information makes as much sense as explaining how to break-in and hotwire your 4x4 in case you lose the keys some day. It's useful info and good for the legal owner of the vehicle but I guarantee that it would be mis-used by some asshole who reads it.

if and where you can get a key for a gate depends on who owns the gate and if they want to let you behind it. Some are Foresty and you would get the key from the local forestry office, some are put up by the logging companies, and you can get the key from them, and some are put up by natives, and you can get a key from them. Most keys will open a few gates, but you have to figure out which ones they work for. They don't usually telll you. You usually have to leave a deposit for the key when you get it.

The do not copy does not mean alot. Most of those keys are proprietory sizes, so making a copy is hard as the blanks are only available from the MFG to the original business.
