I have a 84 sj with a 1.3 dropped in and my engine runs soooo smooth when I first start it up, but when I run it up and down the block and it heats up a bit, the thing wont idle at all. it just boggs down and dies. I set the timing and had it running great till I let it warm up then i checked the timing and it was off by a couple degrees already. Then today I had to move the distributer over all the way just to get the thing to start, that was when it was warm also. is this a choke problem? fuel mixture? I really need some help. aslo would it be worth it just to scrap this carb and throw in a pony carb? any info would be a huge help.

I would check out your thermostatic vacum valves....... the thingys on the intake manifold with 25 vacum hoses going to them...
they crack and leak and suck
Is your carb one of those with the electronic control?... if so check the oxygen sensor... if it gets packed up with dirt +mud the vents on the oxy sensor cause a false reading to the computer.
Or .... just go diesel
no carb
no vacum
no vacum hoses.......
:D
