Hi I'm pretty new here, but you guys sound like you know what's going on...
I've got an 89 4runner, stock, IFS of course, and when I am making a turn when my steering is cranked all the way to one side or the other, there is a crazy creaking sound that comes from the suspension. It's more prevalent when the suspension is under load. Any suggestions?

It's probably your steering stops. If you have a look at the area behind your wheels when you are turned at full lock, you will see the steering stop. They come covered with a plastic piece from the factory, but the piece wears out or falls off after a while. You can buy new pieces from Toyota, or just put some grease on the stop.

I had the same problem on my 92 Toy p/u (never should have sold it!). It was the steering stops that Greg mentioned. I usually had to replace them about every 2 years.
