OKay just want to clear something up,

I have manual locking hubs on my front axle, now when I engage 4 wheel drive(hi or low), Its not actually 4wd until I lock the hubs.

Correct?

Yes, moving the t-case lever will only make the front shaft spin. No power goes to the front wheels unless the hubs are locked in.

Just to go one step further. Locking the hubs attaches the hubs/wheels to the axle shaft

off topic but good advice: always make sure both hubs are either locked or unlocked. do not allow one to be locked and the other to be unlocked, bad things will result

I take it you experienced this? I wouldn't think that would be good. Just curious. What happens?
