The washout/slide on the trail off of the main road going over the Mission Ridge Pass has now been cleared (sort of). The Backroad Map Book has a big "X" through it with the words "wash out". We just did it last Saturday and the road is now relatively passable with very minimal rock-crawling. It looks like a bulldozer went through it.

HOWEVER, A NOTE OF CAUTION!! We had a great low gear drive all the way down the other side (for about 4 hours) and crossed the Bridge River only to be stopped by a locked gate a few hundred metres from the main road. :angry We then took a small road up the side of the Chilcotin Range and down the other side to Lillooet (about 3 hours) and found another locked gate! :angry Luckily, after some door knocking, some members of the Bridge River Indian Band had a key to the gate. as it is on their reserve.

So, unbelievable views, great driving, but don't expect to make it out the other side!!
