When my engine is at idle, it makes popping noises from the exhaust. It sounds kind of like its missing, but the sound is coming from back.
I was looking at my exhaust under my truck the other day and noticed that the muffler is installed backwards. I don't know why it was put in backwards, it just is. Would this create more back pressure in the exhaust than if it were put in correctly, and could this be contributing to the intermittent 'popping'? Or would it really have no affect on the engines idle...

Yup, I guess so. I have to take it off anyways due to a big a$$ hole in the pipe.
