Newbie. question about wheel spacers. are they good? are they worth installing?

Hello to all, i am new here. i was thinking about installing spacers on my wheels. someone told me the bolts would breaks easily. what is it about spacers. are they good? difficult to maintains? will they break the bolts? thanks
