protecting welds

Do you guys do anything special to protect welds before painting to keep them from rusting? Like run a bead of silicone or something like that? OR can I just primer & paint it? This is on the inside of the jeep's tub.

Get a can of zinc and spray it i think if i recall before you weld. It's availble at body shop supplies stores.

Just clean the surface after with acetone or something like that just wet a cloth wipe the weld clean and prime it. Then paint....
Its called Rust-Mort, buy it at your favorite auto body supply place. Kills rust, etches the surface to make it ready for paint.
