Hi, we have a new truck (89 Suburban 4x4) and it has automatic locking hubs (you know, instead of manual lol), how long can you drive in 2wd with the hubs locked in (Assuming you havent had a great spot to stop), and what if any damage can you cause by using this incorrectly. Also I understand we must reverse a certain distance to disengage them, 10' ok? Thanks.

auto hubs aret enguaged when you are in 2wd. the thing with backing up is they sometimes stick when disengaging and backing up a little will let them disenguage.

I had an 89 chev p/u, and I rebuilt my front end. Your cv joints are spinning all of the time, but an electric solenoid engages or disengages the axles. I believe that warn sells a mechanical device that you can operate from inside the cab instead of using the electric solenoid which can get stuck, fail etc.

hope that helps
