So I recently was given a pair of Trail Gear rock sliders for free. (thanx steve). Anyways these sliders are 73" long and my truck from wheel flare to wheel flare is 91''. I have posted a few pics of the sliders centered in place under the rocker panel and they are spaced 10'' inside, either side of the wheel flares. The mounts for the sliders where cut off so I will need to weld new frame mounts onto them as well as mount them onto the frame.
My question is should I mount them as seen in the pics or attempt to lengthen them to better suite the Dakota wheelbase?
What thickness material is best suited for the mounting plate?? Is 3/16" enough or should I bump up to 1/4 inch??
