mine went like this

$140 axle
$200 axle rebuild kit
$200 new calipers and pads(IFS)
$100 new rotors(LC vented)
$200 shocks(9012)
$30 shock towers(ford)
$60 U bolts and plates
$50 spring hangar/shackle metal & bolts
$400 springs(44044's)
$1200 hysteer(OTT)
$100 driveshaft lenghten(DPI)
$450 5.29's & set up kit(randys)
$200 locker(used lock rite)
$190 wheel spacers(all pro)

Total $3,520
thats with all brand new parts and I did all the work my self.
Remember thats just the front and you still need tires aswell
If you are running flexable springs (like 44044's) the drive shaft needs a long spline added to it changing the $100 to around $350(havent done this yet and my drive shaft bottems out :( )

If your buddy is going to do an sas then tell him to have about 5,000 bucks kicking around (including tires) so that he can do it right and not cheap out and leave things till later. Better to do things right the first time so that when he is all done he can not worry about all the things he should have done the first time. Just mt .02.
