so im thinking about buying a 74 toyota fj40 landcruiser and I know nothing about them. Ive heard good things about there off road capabilities but thats its.

im interested in hearing what people have to say about them?

Look for one with a four speed and disc brakes. Disc brake conversion is easy enough, easier if it came with. Power steering would be nice, but unless it was added after probably didn't come from factory. FJ40 is a legendary truck, heavily overbuilt. Ring and pinion is 9.5", driveshafts look like they are from a 3/4 ton. Two weak points: 1. The Birfield joint (this is enclosed in the knuckle) and can break under heavy abuse. 2. Rust
