Is oil leaking out from the front of your 22r?

'cause you know it -Might- not be the gasket.... as in when the chain gets really loose over time it wears a hole through the front cover....

The actual gaskets that seal the front cover to the block are a strip that runs down each side... you basically have to take the crank pulley and oil pump off...loosen and remove all the bolts that hold the timing cover on..(everything that has a 14mm head) and take out the 'secret' bolt that comes down from the cylinder head.

the thing is... while you are at it you might as well just do the timing chain...seeing as how it's right there.....

When my chain wore through the cover, it wore into the water jacket before, letting coolant into the oil (other problems) before it came close to wearing a hole into the engine bay

As Chris said, if you go to the trouble of taking all that crap off, might as just do the timing chain.

Got my replacement kit from Doug at Trailmax4wd.com Seems to be working good so far and good service too
