Here's my problem. I'm trying to install Compcams True Roller Timing chain set on my 1987 258. While I'm fitting the chain cover on the block, the cam bolt is hitting the cover (clearance, who would have thought). That's probably why Compcams makes this chain set for 75'-86' only. However, are these blocks not totally the same? COMP can't tell me why they discontinued this set after 86'. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if this chain set is actually compatible with my application. Can I simply find a smaller washer or bolt to reduce clearance? Or am I looking at a bigger problem in timing differences. Are the crank keys in different positions between these years? I would really like to use this roller chain, so any HELP please!!!
