Got a Magellan and you want to send your track logs to a buddy with a Garmin? Or perhaps you have a Garmin and want to load your Mapsource tracks into OziExplorer?

One of these tools should be able to do the job for you:

As a standard for exchanging data, I highly recommend the GPX format which is an XML-based, non-proprietary format. Once your data is in GPX format, it should be able to be converted to just about any other format that you will encounter.

Another good softwear for garmin is DNRGarmin. It is a free software that the Montana Forest Service has produced. It is an easy software to use and learn. It allows you to down load CSV files and load Coordinates into your GPS.

If you would like the software, send me and email at [email protected]

and i will send the zipped software to you.

I personal have not used the software but a fellow student has used often, and his demonstration of the software made it look easy to use.

Does anyone have any tools that convert Garmins MapSource for use in a Magellan?
What do you mean? Do you mean to convert Garmin waypoints and track logs from Mapsource format into a format usable by Magellan?

Or are you trying to find a way to convert Garmin maps so they'll work with Magellan? If it's the latter, there is no direct way to do this.

Yeah I mean the latter. I want to convert the whole program for use on my magellan. If anyone knows of a program that would save me a lot of money instead of buying the whole program for the magellan.

There is no easy way to do this.

You'd have to get Mapsource to generate the .IMG files and then use some third-party programs to de-construct it and re-generate using third-party tools to create Magellan maps. This is a *lot* of work. Just buy the Magellan maps.

I just want to give another thumbs up to GPSBabel.

I like to use Google Earth and was going to pay for the $20 for the version that allows you to download tracks and waypoints into GE from your GPS (but it doesn't allow upload).

Instead I downloaded GPSBabel, now I can transfer either way, and it's free.
