hey

i looking to raise the front end on a '94 4runner to even it up with the rear, will most likely crank up the torsion bars, just wondering what peoples experiences with this has been ie how far can you go before the ride gets to ruff....are after market bars worth it???

I think max amount you can lift thw torsion barsis 16 inches(measured from lip of rim to center of wheelwell). After that, the CV boots will wear out real quick and it puts more stress on the CV joint.

Ride will be harsher until the bars weaken and then it is bumpy soft ride. You will need to do an alignment after you twist them.

Pros: Clear bigger tires. Free.

Cons: Ripped CV boots. Messed up alignment (even after you get it done).

If you have auto locking hubs your front end will spin all the time and that will eat up all sorts of things, CVs among them.

You're going to eat CV joints with or without manual locking hubs. With them, they'll only rip when you're wheeling (in 4WD of course), but that always seems to be when the truck gets driven the hardest doesn't it?
