Completely different, and twice as heavy.
Do you mean bolt onto the cruiser tranny?
You can adapt a wide variety of engines to a 4-speed cruiser tranny.

75 FJ40, 4 inch BDS springs, 1 inch body lift, 35's, detroit EZ locker, power steering, disc brakes, SM420, 3spd low range gears, full cage, XD9000i, dual batteries....you get the idea.

They are totally different. They are much stronger (the t-case is the weak link). Anything that you want to bolt other than the 6 will probably need a modified bellhousing.

Just because the next guy has frosted tips, an earing, and a jeep doesn't mean you have to!
89 Toy p/u, locked rear, 4.3l on propane, still ifs. Work in progress

If your droping in an engine...you might also want to price out getting a new tranny/t-case. It can sometimes be better/cheaper to just replace everything at once and not deal with adapters.
