What year did the Cherokee have it's face lift? ie: newer style flares and flush front side markers.
Also, what's the min. lift to fit 31's?
Spacers and blocks? Want to keep ride feel as close to stock as possible.
Thanks.

I believe '96 was the face lift, and amount of lift to fit 31's, none, if you fender trim. If not 2" of lift and not very much articulation off-road, 3" and 31's go nice together. Don't use blocks, they are just bad, use spacers up front and shackles in the rear.
Cheers
Jordan

Thanks Jordan, won't be taking it off road, my YJ is for that. Just thinking of getting a XJ for work purposes, something with cargo space and will actually fit into an uderground parking lot. I also want to keep it riding as smooth as possible, so no big lifts this time. But you can't expect me to drive it stock either.

Nikon-jeeper, I don't have an XJ yet. Probably getting it in the new year.
Just trying to prepare and plan for it that's all.

97 was the first year for the updated body

If you can afford it go with 3" springs.

there's lots of good info just a few threads down:
