We used to do a Christmas Tree run in Northern Alberta it was lots of fun. Five bucks got you a permit for three trees and a map of where to harvest. Sadly this year I am on the wet coast and my family are going with a fake tree this year. I would not be sorry if that plastic tree blew up while lighting it! Hope you have a good time with yoyu tree hunt, if I lived anywhere close I would join you but Surrey is a little out of the way. Merry Christmas!

You need a permit to get a tree from crown land. In the Chilliwack FD it is free and allows you 2 trees. Probably the same for all regions.
Check with your local Forest district office to get a permit and the regs.
